How To: Prepare for your Bridal Trial
Bridal trial is a crucial step in ensuring your wedding beauty is exactly what you envisioned. By following these suggestions below, you’ll be well prepared and able to communicate your preferences effectively to your artist.
Dos:
Do bring inspiration photos or a mood board to communicate your desired hair and makeup looks clearly. I cannot emphasize this enough!! take some time to look up makeup styles on Pinterest, Instagram or just a simple google search that you seem to like the most. With that, it is crucial to focus on people that have similar facial features as you. Second most important thing is to look at the artists work that you hired with similar looks they have done on other clients . This will ensure that you will have your look match closet to your inspiration. The reason why I say ‘close to your inspiration’ is because everyones features are different and one makeup doesn’t fit all. It looks different on everyone with different features.
Do arrive with a prepped skin, brows and well-prepped hair. Makeup artists are not magicians, and I say this with a kind heart! Your makeup will only look as good as the skin it is sitting on! Makeup cannot cover texture, it emphasizes it even more. So take good care of your skin and manage your expectations. Avoid getting any treatments done at least two weeks before your appointment & wedding day and yes that includes hydrafcials. This will ensure your skin is not in the process of healing when you are sitting in the artists chair to get your makeup done. Recommend doing at home hydrating masks a day before and always keep your skin hydrated internally and externally! YES drink water water water!! Lastly, have your brows done and remove any unwanted facial hair if that is something you always do.
Do arrive with prepped hair: washed and dried hair or get a blow out. Hair should not be air dried, as that is not prepped hair. The hair should be blow dried with a brush to smooth out any curls you may have etc. If you have tight curls, get a blowout for the hair to be ready for styling.
Do wear a white or light-colored top similar to your dress to get a better idea of how the hair and makeup will look against that color. Try to keep minimal to no caffeine to reduce eye fluttering and eat before your appointment and not during or after ( lipstick can only last so long).
Do provide feedback during the trial. Remember, this is the time to speak up if you’d like to make adjustments or if something isn’t aligning with your vision. Open communication is key to achieving your desired look.
Do bring any hair accessories, veils or headpieces lan to wear on your wedding day. This way the hair style is created with that in mind.
Lastly, don’t forget to tip your artist to show your appreciation !
